Things To Do Around Canyon Lake Sept 21-22

By Justin Bevins | Canyon Lake Events

Cooler weekends in Canyon Lake are here and there are lots of great things to do in and around the community.  The water is still warm so daytime skiing or paddle boarding are still great options or grab the family and hang out in the park or at the beach… or try one of our event suggestions below.

Canyon Lake

Little Shop of Horrors | 7:30 pm Saturday

Indian Beach comes alive with the Canyon Lake Community Theatre’s production of Little Shop of Horrors.  Enjoy a great night of entertainment under the stars this weekend or next.  Call 951-746-4619 for tickets.  Arrive early to catch the pre-show and get good seats.  General admission tickets are $12 for adults, and $10 for seniors, students, and children.

Oktoberfest Canyon LakeOktoberfest | 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm Saturday

This annual Chamber of Commerce event is always fun with some great food, drinks, and entertainment and the ever popular American Bavarian Brass Band.  Bring your lederhosen; we’ll see you at the Towne Center.

Canyon Lake Farmer’s Market | 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Sunday

Every Sunday in the back of the Towne Center, catch local artisans, vendors, and farmers with all kinds of good stuff. Check page A-14 of this week’s Friday Flyer for a coupon.  Come out and support local business.

Temecula

Missy ANderson MiramonteMissy Anderson at Miramonte Winery | Saturday 7:00 pm

The queen of all local soul, rhythm and blues never disappoints.  She’ll be groovin’ outdoors on the patio starting at 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm.  Get the full scoop on Missy at her website.  Try some great Miramonte wines and if you’re hungry, order the Charcuterie Board – the pickled pepper and tapenade are delicious.

Lake Elsinore

Survivor Mud Run | Saturday 9:00 am

It’s not to late to sign up for this dirty event and if you’re not in great shape it’s ok because there is a short 5k course. Known for one of the longest slip n’ slides in North America that empty right into the lake, this mud run is always fun.  If getting dirty is not your thing, then just come down to storm stadium and cheer on the filthy people coming into the stadium… it’s cheap entertainment.

San Diego

Carlsbad Music Festival | Saturday and Sunday 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Dubbed ” Adventurous Music by the Beach”, this eclectic musical event is sure to expand your harmonic horizons.  Most events take place at Magee Park.  It’s a pretty short walk to the beach, so if you don’t like what you hear, you can always stick your toes in the sand.

Pomona

LA County Fair | Until September 29th

If you missed the San Diego and OC Fairs this year, it’s okay because you still have the LA County Fair at the Pomona Fairplex until the end of the month.  Great onstage entertainment, delicious food and plenty of animal and people watching.

Things to do Around Canyon Lake August 9th – 11th

By Justin Bevins | Canyon Lake Events

It’s a quiet weekend for events in Canyon Lake, but the weather is going to be awesome with temps in the low 90’s so it should be a great weekend to hang out in the boat on the East Bay or grab the paddle board or kayak and do some cruising.  There are Farmer’s Markets in Corona and Temecula on Saturday and in Canyon Lake on Sunday.  You could always catch a Storm game and fireworks just down the road in Lake Elsinore or venture out a little further for some great entertainment. There’s plenty to do outside the lake so use our little event guide to come up with a great plan for your weekend.

Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake Movie NightFriday Movie Night | 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm Friday

Catch a fun family film outdoors tonight at Holiday Harbor.  Tonight, it’s Puss in Boots starring Antonio Banderas.  There are only two more Movie Nights this season so get out and enjoy them.

2 for $20 Menu’s at the Lighthouse and Country Club | Friday and Saturday Nights

Friday nights at the Country Club and Friday and Saturday nights at the Lighthouse feature great 2 for $20 dollar menus.  You get soup or salad, entrée, and dessert for 2 people – it’s pretty hard to be for a cheap date night.  There’s usually a little bit of on stage entertainment as well.

Temecula

Hot Summer Nights in Old Town Friday 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Head down to Old Town to catch live music , entertainment and some great grub and drinks.  This Friday night event is always free and it’s a great place to get social or do some people watching.

Shakespeare in the Vines | Saturday and Sunday 7:30

Europa Village Winery will be featuring Shakespeare in the Vines for just a few more weekends so if you haven’t been out to see these one-of-a-kind evening shows, you better hurry.  Saturday’s show is sold out, but tickets should still be available for Sunday if you get online and book them fast.

Corona

Rockin’ at Dos Lagos Concert Series | Saturday 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This Saturday it’s Pretzel Logic – A Steely Dan Tribute.  Check it out in the parking lot near T.G.I. Fridays and bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

Retail Therapy Near Canyon Lake

By Elle | Canyon Lake Business

Shopping has a calming effect on me….  That is why when I tell my husband I’m going to get some retail therapy, he automatically KNOWS what I mean….and that I’ll probably be gone for quite a while.  Heck, when we first moved to Canyon Lake, the first things I had to plot into my GPS were the nearest shopping centers and malls!

Though we’ve got a ton of shopping choices in the area, I’ve listed my personal “go-to” favorites to make it easier for you area “newbies” to become familiar with what places might give you some of the same therapy I get!

So…  Depending on what type of environment you’re in the mood in, you’ve got the following choices:

Menifee Countryside MarketplaceWhen in the mood to shop but I don’t want to drive too far, I head over to Menifee’s Countryside Marketplace shopping center.  I love that it’s got a Sports Chalet, TJ Maxx, Kohls, Michael’s and Super Target there.  What makes my retail therapy even better is the new Panera Bread for a quick coffee and pastry stop!  Those asiago bagels are my ultimate favorite!

Dos LagosIf I’m in a quiet, calm and easy-going-in-stride shopping mood, I normally head out to to The Shops At Dos Lagos in Corona.  Corona is about a 20 minute drive North of Canyon Lake.  It’s a nice outdoor shopping mall that houses shops like Anthropologie, Z Gallerie, White House Black Market,  Victoria’s Secret and much more….  Shopping at Dos Lagos is nice and relaxing, basically because there’s not much of a crowd to deal with, it’s got great boutiques with unique items you won’t find at any large shopping mall.   When you shop at Dos Lagos, you feel as if you’re the only one shopping there and the stores were put there “just for you”.

The Crossings at CoronaUp the road from Dos Lagos, there’s a large (and I say large) shopping center called The Crossings with stores like Ulta, Best Buy, Cost Plus World Market, Marshall’s, BevMo, Ethan Allen Furniture and Barnes & Noble and many more.   What’s great about this mall is all the stores are huge storefronts so you can definitely get a lot of gift or personal shopping done; and again, it’s never overly crowded.

Temecula PromenadeNow, if I’m in the mood to be out amongst the crowds and enjoy the energy just from seeing people get their retail therapy on, I head down South to the Temecula Promenade.  It’s more of a larger mall compared to Dos Lagos and you’ve got the larger anchor department stores such as Macy’s Mens, Macy’s Women’s, and Sear’s.  What I love about this mall is you’ve got the combo outdoor/indoor mall, so for the warm days where you’d like to get some nice sun; you can still do some outdoor shopping and for those rainy days; you’ve got the option to “stay in” and still get that retail therapy in.  Next to having an Apple store and a Sephora, the mall is also flanked by great eating choices such as The Lazy Dog Cafe, The Yard House, CPK, Shogun, and many others.  Just around the perimeter of the Promenade, you’ve also got Cost Plus World Market, a PetCo and one of my favorites ~ Nordstrom Rack!

Now, there are more stores to spend your money at when visiting each of these shopping areas so make sure to check out their websites for a complete directory listing.

Welcome to the area and I hope you enjoy seeking out more retail therapy than what I’ve mentioned!  After all, therapy can be good for you!
